Statement Stellantis airbag recall in Citroën C3 and DS 3

June 20, 2025

Official recall statement

“Owners of these cars will be informed that they must stop using their car immediately and contact the dealer network for the necessary repair, which will be done free of charge.

The vehicles covered by this recall were already part of an ongoing, comprehensive recall that began more than a year ago – first in Southern Europe, then later in Northern Europe. Decisions on recalls, and certainly stop-drive measures, are made based on multiple factors, including airbag specifications, age and use of the vehicle, climatic conditions and reports from regulatory agencies. Important: The airbags involved cannot deploy or deploy suddenly or unexpectedly.

Following a recent incident in France, Stellantis immediately expanded its efforts to issue a stop-drive measure for all vehicles involved. This decision underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to the safety of its customers.

Affected customers will receive additional information by letter very soon. They can also check themselves whether their vehicle is covered by this action via the VIN check tool on the  Citroën website and the DS website, through their local dealer or by calling Stellantis Netherlands customer service: 0800 2487636.

It is critical that owners who have moved or have a new phone number update their contact information in the local databases so that they can be reached in a timely and efficient manner.

Stellantis is deploying its entire network of suppliers, dealers and factories to support this action and help each customer as quickly, safely and appropriately as possible.

Stellantis remains fully committed to responding quickly, transparently and responsibly to this situation. The long-running Takata airbag recall is the largest auto-related recall in the world, involving many tens of millions of airbags and dozens of car brands.”
