Sprint racer from BMW R 1300 R

July 25, 2025

Wonderful anyway such a fat-looking 1,300cc boxer. Normally, the BMW R 1300 R already produces 145 horsepower. This special should deliver much more power, though the makers don’t mention how much. However, a dash from the nitrous oxide cylinder mounted under the seat will undoubtedly produce a lightning-fast sprint, with the boxer engine’s lying cylinders shaking with pleasure. And so will the rider!

Dream engine of BMW employees

A small, passionate group of BMW Motorrad employees were given the unique opportunity to build their dream motorcycle. So the result is this: the BMW R 1300 R “TITAN”. A brutal, uncompromising sprint racer that impresses not only with its looks, but also with its performance.

Under the direction of project manager Philipp Ludwig, motorcycle designer Andreas Martin, color and graphic designer Theresa Stukenbrock and prototype builders Paul Summerer and Thomas Becker worked on this custom project. Together they created a motorcycle that revolves around one thing: power and impress.

Basic BMW R 1300 R

The basis for the TITAN is the new BMW R 1300 R, whose characteristic lines have been transformed into the muscular, aggressive forms of a sprint racer. Visually, the weight has been moved forward. By placing the rear wheel further back, it manages to keep the front wheel firmly on the asphalt during an explosive start. Even standing still, the TITAN exudes speed and aggression. The design is reminiscent of a feline hunter, which can strike at any moment.

Help from Akrapovič

BMW received help in development from a well-known partner: Akrapovič. This cooperation resulted in a full titanium exhaust system that not only enhances the appearance, but also provides an unprecedented sound. The dual exhaust tips out under the sharply raked rear section – completely in line with the aggressive styling of this one-off.

Swingarm by Wilbers

For maximum performance, the TITAN received a special, long swingarm from Wilbers and rock-hard tuning. Every horsepower is utilized, nothing goes to waste. And as if that were not enough, a nitrous bottle is mounted between the two titanium mufflers. At the push of a button, the injection system receives an extra jolt of nitrous oxide – good for cutting-edge acceleration.

Asphalt grab

As soon as the throttle goes on, the tires grip the asphalt and the TITAN catapults forward. The gearbox with quickshifter shifts razor sharp, and the Magura HC3 brake lever ensures that the machine comes to a stop as impressively as it accelerates. Finally, the footpegs are positioned far back to give rider Philipp Ludwig optimal support during sprint races – exactly what this TITAN was built for.

Too bad: no production model

The BMW R 1300 R “TITAN” is not a production model, but it perfectly demonstrates what is possible when passion, design and engineering come together in a unique project.
