New Peugeot E-208 GTi: fat nod to the 1980s
What can you expect from the Peugeot E-208 GTi?
The new E-208 GTi is Peugeot’s first all-electric model to carry the GTi label. Under the hood, not a raucous 1.9-liter four-cylinder like the 205 GTi, but an electric motor with 206 kW (280 hp) and 345 Nm. That’s no mean feat for this size car. With the E-208 GTi, you sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds. The top speed is limited to 180 km/h. This makes it one of the fastest models in the B-segment.

How often should I recharge?
That depends largely on your driving style. The Peugeot E-208 GTi has a 54 kWh battery that should allow you to travel 350 kilometers according to the official WLTP test. But then you have to drive somewhat normally. If you use the car for what it was made for, i.e. nice sporty driving with powerful intermediate sprints, the range hollows out by dozens of kilometers. Fortunately, the battery can be recharged in less than 5 hours at a regular charging station, or in 30 minutes to 80% at a fast charger.

How sporty is the Peugeot E-208 GTi really?
Well, that’s all right. Because in addition to the fact that the E-208 GTi accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and offers lightning-fast intermediate acceleration thanks to its electric motor – which responds to the gas pedal immediately and without delay and sends all its torque directly to the wheels – the car also has a limited slip differential. This improves cornering performance, agility and stability, making the Peugeot E-208 GTi handle significantly tighter than the sportiest E-208 to date. Equally important for sporty handling: the E-208 GTi comes standard with extra sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires (215/40 R18).

Sporty design with references to the original
The design of the Peugeot E-208 GTi is a bold nod to the 1980s. It is clearly inspired by its predecessor, the 205 GTi. In addition, the suspension has been lowered 30 mm compared to the standard E-208. The track widths have also been increased. Thus, the GTi is 56 mm wider at the front and 27 mm wider at the rear. Furthermore, the front bumper has an additional spoiler, while an aerodynamic diffuser is placed under the rear bumper, equipped with a small LED fog lamp. The typical red color of Peugeot GTi also appears everywhere inside. Just look at the bright red, floor mats, seat belts and details in the seat upholstery. The small steering wheel is covered in perforated red leather and Alcantara, with a red GTi emblem in the center.

Complete equipment
Prices for the Peugeot E-208 GTi have not yet been released. We expect a price around 40,000 euros. What we do know is that in terms of equipment, the GTi version has everything the 208 series has to offer. For example, it also comes standard with the Peugeot i-Connect infotainment system with built-in TomTom Connected Navigation, integrated ChatGPT, voice control via ‘Ok Peugeot’ and phone connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. And last but not least, with Peugeot today you get 8 years/160,000 km factory warranty.
