Mitsubishi ASX gets new hybrid powertrain for 2026
New powertrain: 1.8 hybrid
The Mitsubishi ASX’s new hybrid powertrain consists of a 1.8-liter gasoline engine combined with an electric motor. Together, they produce a system output of 160 hp (118 kW), which is 15 hp more than before. The torque of the combustion engine increases by about a quarter, which is noticeable in handling. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is about one second faster than the previous model, according to Mitsubishi. At the same time, fuel consumption is slightly lower, with an estimated improvement of 5%. CO₂ emissions also drop slightly. Thanks to a larger battery pack, it is possible to drive electrically over a longer distance.

Improvements in handling and towing weight
The hybrid powertrain will be paired with a modified transmission. It should be quieter and more responsive to throttle movements. In addition, the design of the shift lever has been redesigned. For the “Intense” version, an electronic handbrake with auto hold function becomes standard. The towing weight increases from 750 kg to 1,000 kg. This makes the vehicle more suitable for use with a trailer or caravan.
