Leapmotor B05: Electric Volkswagen Golf?

September 8, 2025

B05: hatchback with guts

The Leapmotor B05 is brand new and shows its face for the first time. This all-electric hatchback is expected in Europe in late second quarter 2026. In terms of size, it comes close to an Opel Astra (Electric) and Volkswagen Golf and ID.3, and thus Leapmotor is aiming at the heart of the European market. With its length of 4.43 meters and a wheelbase of 2.74 meters, in terms of size it is a typical “European” hatchback.

The design is – as Europeans like it – sporty, with frameless doors and 19-inch alloy wheels. The B05 builds on the technology of the B01 sedan – a model we don’t get here – and is likely to get the same battery options: a 56 kWh package and a larger 67 kWh version. In doing so, Leapmotor is aiming for a practical range competitive with cars like the Tesla Model 3.

B10: SUV available immediately

In addition to the premiere of the B05, Leapmotor is also highlighting the B10. This electric C-SUV is already ready for delivery: the order books opened at the end of July and from September the first units will roll off the assembly line. Thanks to Stellantis’ distribution network, the B10 will appear in more than thirty countries.

Standing on the LEAP 3.5 platform, the B10 combines a spacious interior with plenty of technology and gadgets, such as a large 14.6-inch screen. It is also practical: from fully flat fold-down seats to numerous storage compartments.

Under the skin is an electric motor with 160 kW (218 hp) and 240 Nm. Two battery versions – the same expected for the B05 – are available: 56.2 kWh with a range of 361 km and 67.1 kWh good for 434 km (WLTP). Fast charging goes up to 168 kWh, taking you from 30 to 80 percent in 20 minutes.

Two versions

The B10 appears in two flavors. The Life already has many luxuries on board, such as a panoramic roof, 18-inch wheels and a complete ADAS package. The Design goes a step further with faux leather upholstery, ambient lighting and electrically adjustable ventilated front seats.
