Ford electric delivery vehicle with 600 km range
Sufficient range for daytime delivery work
Okay you think. So why would I buy such a compact delivery vehicle? Well, what to say about its range. Because according to WLTP practical measurement, you can travel up to 602 km on a full battery! That’s plenty for around town and circumference. With that, you can drive around for a day to deliver small packages, for example. There are plenty of applications where such a van with a mega range comes in handy.
Ford Explorer Cargo economical with power
Ford calls this Explorer Cargo an economical alternative to a van. This range is in fact possible because the Explorer is reasonably economical with power consumption. Moreover, the conversion, i.e. removing the back seat and installing the rack, costs 1,950.41 euros (excluding VAT). That’s not exactly an investment for which the accounting department will apply the brakes.

How does the Explorer ride?
We took the Ford Explorer for a spin, just to get the handling sharp again. Well, that’s fine. Logical too, because it is a passenger car where comfort is just a little more at the top of the list than with a robust van.
Center console a large display screen
As in many new Ford passenger cars, the center console is actually a large display screen in portrait orientation. You control virtually all functions by touch. Or via buttons on the steering wheel. That screen comes across as overwhelming at first, but you quickly appreciate the large size. Because when you drive over a threshold, you don’t immediately find yourself with your finger next to the intended touch area. After all, such a digital touch button is larger than on a small screen. The projected map of the cloud connected navigation is also king size, so perfectly readable.
Spicy performance
The Ford Explorer drives nice and smooth. If you depress the power pedal deeply, it pulls up like crazy. You can accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. Due to the rear-wheel drive, the rear will even break out easily on slippery surfaces, but of course the assistance systems quickly intervene to keep the Explorer in line.
Nice and quiet though
As you might expect: the Ford Explorer drives quietly because of its electric drive. You also sit a little higher above the road, giving you a better view of traffic, which is quite a godsend in the city. Because of that height, there is also a remarkable amount of cargo space. It amounts to more than 1,500 liters. Between floor and roof, without rear seats, you have well over a meter at your disposal. 1,380 mm to be precise. In width, too, you can pull the tape measure past 100 cm. Great after all, for a compact van!

Price and motor power
The Ford Explorer is available as a passenger car starting at 37,950 euros, including VAT and a small amount of bpm. To this is then added the price of just under 2,000 euros (excl. VAT) for the conversion. By the way, with a business you can deduct the VAT on the car and in addition you can take advantage of investment subsidies and schemes. For example, the accelerated depreciation scheme Vamil or the MIA, Environmental Investment Allowance.
In practice, you are also looking at charging and power from the electric motor. As for the latter, it delivers 125 kW (170 hp) and a maximum torque of 310 Nm. Fast charging is possible with up to 145 kW. Then it is possible to recharge 192 km in ten minutes. The top speed is 160 km / h. So on the highway there is plenty of reserve. The Explorer may tow up to 1,200 kg of trailer weight.
