EV Experience 2025: Subaru Solterra and Uncharted are 100% electric

October 2, 2025

Subaru Solterra

The Subaru Solterra – a sibling of the Toyota bZ4X – gets a big performance boost thanks to twin “e-axles” that combine to deliver 252 kW (338 hp). This allows the car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds. The driving range has also been improved: efficiency upgrades and a 73.1 kWh battery now allow you to travel more than 500 kilometers on a full charge of electricity. Charging is faster than ever, as going from 10 to 80 percent takes just 30 minutes. A 22 kW AC charger is optionally available.

Practicality remains important, with a braked towing capacity of up to 1,500 kilograms. The design has also been updated, with a sleeker front end and a revised interior in which an advanced 14-inch infotainment screen takes center stage. Additional cameras also provide better visibility in off-road situations.

Subaru Uncharted

The Subaru Uncharted is the brand’s first all-electric compact SUV model and is clearly aimed at adventure enthusiasts. It is based on the Toyota C-HR+.

Buyers can choose from several variants. The AWD Dual Motor, with its 77 kWh battery and 252 kW (338 hp), delivers impressive performance: 0 to 100 km/h goes in 5.0 seconds, while getting 470 kilometers far and towing up to 1,500 kilograms. For those who want to emphasize efficiency, there is the Long Range FWD, also with a 77 kWh battery but with a single engine, good for a range of up to 585 kilometers. There is also a version with a smaller 57.7 kWh battery and front-wheel drive, which offers a driving range of 445 kilometers. All models come standard with a 22 kW on-board charger and can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 30 minutes.

In terms of design, Subaru remains true to its recognizable style. The Uncharted looks tough and robust, with a new Subaru front end and 210 millimeters of ground clearance. Thanks to Dual X-Mode and a turning radius of only 5.5 meters, the car is both capable off-road and surprisingly manageable in the city. The interior combines practical luxury with modern technology: a square steering wheel, dual wireless chargers, shift paddles and a large 14-inch infotainment screen provide a contemporary experience behind the wheel.

Another newcomer: Subaru e-Outback

Subaru will come out with another BEV during 2026. That is the Subaru e-Outback. For that car, the 2025 EV Experience came too soon. At least this model will get a 74.7 kWh battery, 280 kW (375 hp) of power and a 450 km range. Other features include symmetrical AWD,210 mm ground clearance and a braked towing weight of 1,500 kilograms. The car is longer than the Solterra and thus also offers a larger trunk (room for four large suitcases or a dog crate).
