AC Schnitzer tackles the BMW M240i

July 12, 2022

More power

The current M240i is not a slow guy. Indeed, under the hood is a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-in-line gasoline engine, good for 374 hp and 500 Nm. AC Schnitzer goes the extra mile and brings the power to 420 hp and 600 Nm thanks to different software . If you have the performance upgrade done by AC Schnitzer you still retain the factory warranty too.

Under the skin, AC Schnitzer M240i can also be equipped with a sports suspension, which will bring the car 20 to 25 millimeters closer to the asphalt. According to the Germans, this promotes directness of steering, comfort and stability.

AC Schnitzer also supplies a four-pipe sports exhaust for the M240i, with a choice of carbon, chrome or black end trims. Whether the exhaust also has a positive effect on power is not mentioned in the press release, but it will undoubtedly sound good.

Visual Adjustments

On the outside of the 2 Series Coupe, there’s also a lot to choose from. AC Schnitzer’s products always have a high tuner content, which has to be your taste anyway. Still, they indicate that modifications have an effect on, for example, the car’s downforce and grip. But if it’s not your thing you can also stick to engine tuning.

If you do want to customize the looks you can choose from 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels, wheel spacers, front splitter, sideskirts, spoiler on the roof and two-piece spoiler on the trunk lid. In the interior, AC Schnitzer places a nappa leather and alcantara-covered steering wheel and larger aluminum gear shift knobs and pedals if desired.

Still waiting for the M2?

Later this year, BMW will present an M2 of the G42 2 Series. The previous generation M2 – generation F87 – boasts 410 hp in the base version and 450 hp for the M2 CS. It is expected that the new M2 will step in at the same 450 hp of the old CS. What we do know for sure is that the M2 will be available with a manual transmission and is the last new M that features a drivetrain without electrification. M models that are on the market after the new M2 have a drivetrain in which an electric motor – in some form or another – plays a role in propulsion.
