The EV9 GT is a bizarre and terribly expensive Kia – and at the same time spot-on
Rocket for the whole family
The Kia EV9 GT is the top model within the EV9 lineup. With 508 hp and 740 Nm of torque, it sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. That’s faster than many sports cars ever dream of being. And all this in a seven-seat SUV with as much space in the back as in an average hotel room.

So much money, so little money
But let’s not beat around the bush: 88,795 euros. That’s what Kia is asking for this big electric powerhouse. That’s a good deal of money. But put that price next to that of other cars with 500+ horsepower and you can understand why the amount suddenly feels “spot on. For a BMW M5 Touring – another fast family car – you spend 150 grand. Moreover, the EV9 GT not only offers insane performance, but it is also one of the most practical cars you can buy – perhaps THE most practical.

GT in heart, kidneys and grille
The EV9 GT hasn’t just been beefed up. It has been seriously tackled: with an electronic limited slip differential (e-LSD), adaptive air suspension with cameras that scan the road surface, and a neon green GT button on the steering wheel that wakes up all the power. Also present: “Virtual Gear Shift” and “Active Sound Design. Yes, you can hear “gear shift” and “engine” sounds.

Tough looks
Of course, the looks are also matched to its brutal performance. Bigger bumpers, 21-inch rims, black details and bright green brake calipers complete the look. And then there’s that “Digital Grille,” a sort of LED show in the nose that displays light animations when opening, closing or leaving.

Inside
It’s a party inside, too. Think sports seats with suede and neon accents, massage functions, heated and ventilated seats, captain’s chairs in row two (with retractable leg rests) or just a three-seat bench, standard head-up display and a Meridian audio system with 14 speakers. In short: you don’t have to put any more check marks, everything is already there.

Fast loading
Not only is the EV9 GT fast, it charges quickly. Thanks to the 800V system, you’re from 10 to 80 percent in 15 minutes – at a fast charger. The range of 510 kilometers is neat for such a beast with supercar performance. And: it is prepared for Vehicle-to-Grid. The bizarre Kia can be ordered immediately; it will be at the dealer in November.
