Taking a little getting used to: the Land Rover Defender now also comes as a pickup truck!
Defender
Heritage Customs, based in Naarden-Vesting, is known for its spectacular Defender conversions. After the open Valiance Convertible, they thought it was time for the next step: the Valiance Pick-Up. It is the world’s first pick-up of the new Defender.

Custom
According to Heritage Customs, it’s all about “Carchitecture” – car design as craft. The Valiance Pick-Up is hand-built by the same craftsmen who also made the convertible version. Every Valiance Pick-Up is customized. You choose the color, interior, upholstery and wheels. From the stitching in the leather to the finish of the cargo box – everything can be personalized. The cargo area measures about a meter deep and 1.4 meters wide and is finished in scratch-resistant paint so you can carry a load of wood, suitcases or beach gear without worry.

Luxury workhorse
The new Pick-Up pays homage to the classic Defender 130 Pick-Up from the last century. That old version was purely functional, but Heritage gives it a chic twist. The design stays true to the original Defender lines, but the proportions are different: a muscular rear end, a sleek cargo box and subtle references to the classic Land Rovers of yesteryear. According to Heritage Customs, this is “the perfect blend of utility and bespoke luxury.”

Custom
Building such a Valiance Pick-Up is a semi-coachbuilt project. So everything is largely handmade, a process that takes two to three months. Sketches are made together with the customer, after which the car is built step by step. The conversion costs about 65,000 euros, not including the base car. Heritage can supply the Defender 130 itself, but customers may also bring in their own car.

Global interest
Heritage Customs builds cars for customers all over the world. European customers can visit Naarden, and for the US they cooperate with Urban USA so that the car complies with US import regulations. Each car comes with German registration papers, making European imports easy.

Limited and exclusive
The first two are scheduled to arrive in early 2026. So those who want one should be quick. A deposit of 15,000 euros is required to reserve a construction lock.
