New Suzuki Burgman 400 as a traffic jam weapon?
In the first nine months of this year (2025), 17,445 new motorcycles were registered, an increase of 2.5 percent compared to the same period in 2024. “More and more Dutch people are discovering the benefits of motorcycling,” says Martijn van Eikenhorst, section manager Motorcycles at RAI Association. “A motorcycle is ideal for commuting: efficient in heavy urban traffic, requires little parking space and helps reduce congestion. Moreover, the running costs are often lower than for a car. The growth in sales figures as well as motorcycle licenses shows that more and more people are discovering the advantages of motorcycles.”
Motor scooter?
Only the weather is a dingy thing. In rain and wind the car is very attractive. Then you don’t get on a motorcycle for fun. Then a motor scooter is a low-threshold option. The Suzuki Burgman 400 has been a fixture in that segment for years.

Attractively priced
The Burgman 400 has received a series of technical improvements and new colors: a matte green shade with gold rims and matte black with also gold rims. The price is quite attractive. For 8,499 euros you have the Burgman 400, including a 6-year warranty. For that money, you also have a light motorcycle but it offers less protection from the weather.

Performance Suzuki Burgman
The Burgman 400 has a 400cc DOHC single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine and Suzuki’s Dual Spark Technology. That ensures optimal combustion and lower emissions. Thanks to the CVT automatic transmission, the Burgman accelerates smoothly and effortlessly, ideal for busy city traffic or the highway. Safety and stability are guaranteed by the Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) and an ABS braking system. In addition, the seven-position adjustable rear suspension offers customized comfort.

Practical and thoughtful
The Burgman 400 excels in practical ease of use. Under the seat, 42 liters of storage space is available. That’s big enough for two helmets or a briefcase. There are also two cockpit compartments. The instrument panel combines classic analog gauges with a modern digital display, including eco indicator and frost warning.
Smart alternative to the car
More and more Dutch people are discovering the motor scooter as a smart alternative to the car. The Burgman 400 is ideally suited for this growing segment: agile enough for the city, but also with enough power and comfort for the highway. In which you are pretty well protected from rain and wind by the large fairing and high windscreen.
