Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, sister to Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric

September 18, 2025

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross summarized in one sentence

If we had to sum up this Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross in one sentence, it would be this: this is a Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric, but with an 8-year manufacturer’s warranty. In fact, Mitsubishi has significantly better warranty terms than Renault. For additional warranty, you have to pay extra at Renault. So as long as Renault does nothing with that, this Eclipse Cross seems to have an advantage.

Dimensions and design

Well, what exactly does this Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross have to offer? Like the Scenic, it is a C-segment crossover. The Mitsubishi is 4,470 mm long, 1,860 mm wide and 1,570 mm high. Of course, the design differs slightly from the Renault. We detect a different grille with Mitsubishi’s typical Dynamic Shield. The Japanese automaker has opted for a honeycomb grille. At the rear, we also notice some modifications, such as a different bumper and a black strip connecting the two light units.

In the interior, Mitsubishi has made few changes. The steering wheel now has a Mitsubishi logo and the brand opts for specific seat covers. Otherwise, Mitsubishi adopts everything from Renault, such as LED ambient lighting with 48 colors and the full-length electrochromatic glass roof. The infotainment system with 12.4-inch touchscreen and support for over-the-air updates offers Google built-in, including Google Maps, Google Play and Google Assistant. Of course, the system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and music can be listened to via a Harman & Kardon Premium audio system. The center screen is complemented by a 12.3-inch Digital Driver Display.

Luggage space

Luggage space is 478 to 545 liters with the rear seats in the normal position, depending on a special storage box under the luggage floor. With the rear seats flat, the cargo volume grows to a maximum of 1,670 liters.

Two powertrains

The Eclipse Cross – built on the CMF-EV platform – is available with two battery options with two power levels. From its market launch, there will be the long-range version, followed in 2026 by a mid-range variant. The 87 kWh long-range battery offers a range of up to about 623 kilometers. The long-range version delivers 160 kW (220 hp) and 300 Nm of torque. The mid-range version has a system output of 125 kW (170 hp) and a smaller battery.

Furthermore, drivers can set the degree of regeneration as desired in four levels, B0 to B3, via the shift paddles behind the steering wheel. The Multi-Sense system allows drivers to select four modes: full personalization with PERSO; maximizing efficiency and reducing energy consumption by up to 10% with ECO; the golden mean with COMFORT and finally SPORT for more driving pleasure a more direct throttle response.

Different versions

Mitsubishi will soon offer three different versions: the Intense, Intense+ and the Instyle. There are several body colors to choose from: Volcanic Grey, Crystal White, Sapphire Blue, Sunrise Red and Onyx Black. The Intense and Instyle have two-tone paint finishes, one of the base colors with an Onyx Black roof. Mitsubishi supplies 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels. The brand provides a variety of accessories. These include additional exterior and styling parts such as mirror caps and trims or interior options such as a trunk organizer or rubber floor mats.

Mitsubishi warranty

Like all Mitsubishi models, the new Eclipse Cross comes with the extended warranty in the Netherlands. These include 8-year/160,000 km warranty, 12-year anti-corrosion warranty, 8-year/160,000 km battery warranty and lifetime Mitsubishi Assistance Package roadside assistance (if serviced at the dealer).

Start of delivery

Production will start in the fourth quarter of 2025 at the plant in Douai, France. The Grandis will also be built there, by the way. Delivery of the Eclipse Cross in the Netherlands will start in early 2026. Before then, Mitsubishi will announce prices. The Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric 170 hp 60 kWh starts in the Netherlands at 39,500 euros and the 220 hp 87 kWh variant of the Renault starts at around 45,300 euros. For a tow bar, count on an additional cost of about 1,000 euros. This is because the Mitsubishi can tow up to 1,100 kilograms braked, with a nose weight of 75 kilograms.
