Leapmotor B01: an electric sedan in the C-segment

No new official data has been released yet, but some details are already circulating in Chinese corridors. The Leapmotor B01 is said to have a length of 4.77 meters, with a wheelbase of 2.74 meters. The luggage compartment holds 460 liters. Notable is the low drag coefficient of only 0.197 Cw. According to Leapmotor, the maximum driving range is 650 kilometers, measured according to the Chinese CLTC standard.
Exactly how big the battery is has not yet been announced. What is clear, however, is that the B01 will be available in China with electric motors of 179 hp and 218 hp. The wheelbase is similar to that of the Leapmotor B10, making it plausible that the battery packs will match as well. So you can count on LFP batteries of 56 kWh and 67 kWh, just like in the B10.
Leap engine is growing like crazy
Leapmotor’s growth in recent years has been remarkable. In 2024, the brand reached a sales volume of nearly 300,000 vehicles, double that of the previous year. In a short time, a complete model range has been rolled out. This consists of all-electric models and EVs with range extender, with the B and C series in the lead and the electric T03 in the A segment.
Leapmotor B series
The new Leapmotor B series includes several models. By the end of 2025, three models – the B10, B05 and B01 – will be on the market. The B series uses the LEAP 3.5 platform. On April 10, 2025, Leapmotor unveiled the first model of the new B Series: the Leapmotor B10. This car is developed for the global market and falls within the popular C-SUV segment. Within 48 hours of the start of the pre-sale, the number of orders exceeded 31,688 units. On the day of launch alone, more than 10,016 units were sold in the first hour. Currently, preparations for market launch in Europe are in full swing.
Highlights of the B10:
- Qualcomm 8155 chip for fast performance under all conditions
- Range up to 510 km for base version and up to 600 km for top version
- Advanced active safety with stability control that intervenes even in milliseconds in the event of a blowout
- Top version equipped with lidar (laser radar) and two Qualcomm high-end chips, with software updates via OTA (over-the-air).
Market launch in Europe of the B series
Export versions of the B Series will be launched in mid-2025. The first global model, the Leapmotor B10, will be launched in Europe in the fourth quarter of 2025. In the same quarter, the Leapmotor B05 will also be unveiled. With the dual propulsion strategy – all-electric (BEV) and with range extender – Leapmotor is expanding its international product offering. Over the next three years, Leapmotor International will launch at least one new model per year.
