Familiar name, new chapter

The three letters GTS have a long history at Porsche. They first appeared in 1963 on the 904 Carrera GTS. Since then, they have stood for models with just a bit more edginess. Things are no different in the electric Macan GTS. Two motors together deliver 420 kW (571 hp) and 955 Nm of torque. This immediately makes it one of the most powerful versions. The GTS sprints to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and goes on to 250 km/h.

Known recipe, new ingredient

The Macan GTS has the same powerful electric motor on the rear axle as the Macan Turbo. That motor is controlled by a smart inverter that provides an extra-fast response as soon as you press the power pedal. The GTS also comes standard with all-wheel drive and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, which cleverly distributes power to the wheels. Thanks to the 48:52 weight distribution, the car remains stable at all times, according to the brand, even when you’re going for some serious steering.

Driving behaviour

The air suspension is ten millimeters lower than the other versions and has its own GTS tuning. Those who want a bit more agility can opt for rear axle steering. Sound has also been thought of: with Porsche Electric Sport Sound, you can adjust the sound in Sport and Sport Plus modes.

Range and charging

The Macan GTS has a 100 kWh battery with a stated range of up to 586 kilometers (WLTP). Fast charging is possible with 270 kW, which takes you from 10 to 80 percent in about 21 minutes. The Sport Chrono package is standard and includes a Track mode that boosts battery cooling during heavy use. Towing capacity is 2,500 pounds, which is remarkable for an electric SUV with sporty ambitions.

You’ll recognize the GTS by its black details. The air intakes are larger, the headlights tinted and the bumpers standard Sport Design-style. The side skirts flare wider and the spoiler accents are black. The GTS comes standard on 21-inch Macan Design rims; 22-inch RS Spyder rims are optional. New colors such as Lugano Blue, Crimson Red and Chalk (Kreide) make their debut. You can choose from dozens more shades via Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.

Interior

Inside, the typical GTS theme is immediately apparent. Lots of black smooth leather and sports seats with 18-way adjustment. For extra flair, there is the GTS interior package with contrasting stitching, belts and logos in the body color. The digital instrument cluster displays the GTS logo and the central display adjusts to the chosen exterior color.

What does the Macan GTS cost?

The Macan GTS sits in the range between the Macab 4S and the Turbo. It combines the comfort of the former with the power of the latter. The starting price in the Netherlands is 109,700 euros.
