He “turns range anxiety into range comfort”-The Volvo EX60

January 8, 2026

According to the brand, the new EX60 achieves up to 810 kilometers on a single battery charge. This not only makes it the electric Volvo with the greatest range to date, but also puts it ahead of many competitors. In this way, Volvo wants to show that electric driving no longer needs to be a fearful mental arithmetic. As the Swedes themselves sum it up nicely: range anxiety gives way to range comfort.

EX60 charges faster than you can drink coffee

In addition to driving range, charging speed plays an important role. At a 400 kW fast charger, Volvo says you can recharge enough energy in ten minutes for about 340 kilometers of driving range. You read that right, ten minutes. Cold coffee at the end of a long charging break seems to be slowly becoming a thing of the past for the electric driver.

New technical basis for electric Volvo cars

Technically, Volvo is breaking new ground with the EX60. The model is the first Volvo on the new SPA3 platform, developed specifically for electric cars. That includes 800-volt on-board voltage, which enables fast charging and contributes to higher efficiency while driving.

An important detail in this new platform is weight. Electric cars are usually not exactly lightweights, but Volvo was quite aware of this. Thanks to a new construction method and the use of larger cast parts, the EX60 is about 200 kilograms lighter than comparable constructions. Less mass means less energy consumption, and that is directly reflected in the driving range.

Just a little more patience for the EX60

Those curious to see what that looks like in real life will have to be patient. The Volvo EX60 will be officially unveiled on January 21. Then it will become clear how Volvo has translated these technical promises into design and interior.
