Firefly now even more complete, but also more expensive. Are you getting value for money?

August 13, 2025

Whereas the existing Firefly First Edition was attractive mainly because of its competitive price of 29,900 euros and already quite rich standard equipment, the Comfort adds quite a bit to that.

Firefly Comfort: Lots of perks nicely included

You can hardly believe your luck in the Firefly Comfort. In this trim you get seat ventilation AND massage function, a panoramic roof, faux leather upholstery, an interior scent system, a power tailgate and a wireless phone charger, among other things. All that in a compact B-segment car. The technology also remains familiar: a 41.2 kWh LFP battery, a 104 kW (142 hp) strong electric motor, a WLTP range of 330 kilometers and fast charging up to 100 kW. In short, on paper the Firefly can keep up nicely with the competition.

What is the competition doing vs. Firefly?

We previously made a price comparison between the Nissan Micra and Renault 5, given that these are two main players in the B-segment. It increasingly seems that car manufacturers are becoming price-fighters. This is to the benefit of the consumer, as it increases the number of models at similar prices and varies the range.

In this case, we briefly list the Firefly, Nissan Micra and the Renault 5 for you, assuming a similar battery pack and high-performance execution:

Model/version Battery Power Price
Firefly Comfort 41.2 kWh 104 kW (142 hp) 32,500 euros
Nissan Micra Advance 40 kWh 88 kW (120 hp) 31,590 euros
Renault 5 Techno 40 kWh 88 kW (120 hp) 29,990 euros
Renault 5 Iconic Cinq 40 kWh 88 kW (120 hp) 31,490 euros

There’s no getting around it, the Firefly as a Comfort version is really more expensive than the Micra and Renault 5 in their most dressed-up guises after all. But, you also get a lot in return. The added value is all in the standard equipment, which makes the Firefly Comfort almost a luxury car.

Taking a financial step back does not make a step backward

Also remember that Firefly provides an entry-level version called First Edition. That one costs 29,900 euros. This one has a touchscreen infotainment system, built-in navigation, 14 speakers, OTA, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 18-inch wheels, a rearview camera, parking assistant, all ADAS systems, seat heating and steering wheel heating. In the video below, Bart shows you everything surrounding this car.

In short, one can talk about a base version, but even this one is already richly equipped. However, it does stick to the 41.2 kWh battery pack, while Nissan and Renault also offer a 52 kWh battery pack. That gets you thinking, which total package do you opt for?

AutoRAI selection help: which car should you choose next?

These three cars show that the electric offerings in the B-segment are hard fought. The Renault 5 aims for the sharpest entry prices, the Micra is priced just a bit higher, and the Firefly puts full bets on luxury and comfort rarely seen in this segment. This gives the consumer more and more freedom: do you choose the cheapest, the most luxurious or the version with the largest battery pack? Or a combination of?

Model/version Battery Power Price
Nissan Micra Advance 52 kWh 110 kW (150 hp) 34,590 euros
Nissan Micra Evolve 52 kWh 110 kW (150 hp) 36,490 euros
Renault 5 Evolution 52 kWh 110 kW (150 hp) 30,990 euros
Renault 5 Techno 52 kWh 110 kW (150 hp) 32,990 euros
Renault 5 Iconic Cinq 52 kWh 110 kW (150 hp) 34,490 euros
Renault 5 Roland-Garros 52 kWh 110 kW (150 hp) 35,990 euros
Firefly First Edition 41.2 kWh 104 kW (142 hp) 29,900 euros
Firefly Comfort 41.2 kWh 104 kW (142 hp) 32,500 euros

Conclusion: Firefly forms seriously strong overall package

Judging from the table, there are several options for 31,000 euros. You choose the Renault 5 mainly if you are looking for a competitive price with a larger electric range. The Micra can compete with the 5 with the same electric range, only the price tag is a bit higher. The Firefly is right in between, but with a more compact battery pack. However, it goes further in standard equipment, especially in the Comfort version. It just depends on what is important to you.
