World premiere of new brands OMODA and JAECOO

May 23, 2023

For the first is since the corona pandemic, the Shanghai auto show was again free to the general international public. And it was noticeable. Under the watchful eye of hundreds of dealers, stakeholders and journalists around the world, the new OMODA and JAECOO brands had their world premiere. Both brands were shown to the world press in the form of an SUV infused with technology, apparent high quality, beautiful interior materials and fashionable exterior design.

OMODA 5 EV

One model we will undoubtedly hear more about this year is the OMODA 5 EV with all-electric drive. In its own words, this model fully meets the contemporary standards and expectations of customers around the world who want to travel smartly and, above all, environmentally consciously. The OMODA 5 EV plays an important role in strengthening Chery’s competitiveness in the global automotive market. It is also the Chinese automaker’s signpost in the field of technological development, with which Chery wants to prove itself as a full-fledged alternative to other Chinese brands, such as BYD and MG that are already posting nice growth figures in Europe.

JAECOO

The second brand to make its global debut is JAECOO. This included the presentation of the JAECOO 7. This brand also focuses on design, intelligent technology, personalized solutions and eco-friendly drive technology, but in combination with plug-in hybrid propulsion. In addition, we see in the JAECOO 7 a somewhat more rugged off-road look.

Chery grows rapidly

The Chinese concern Chery Automobile is still relatively unknown in Europe, but if we take a moment to interpret its figures, it quickly becomes apparent that it is a superpower to take extra account of. Chery sold 1.1 million cars worldwide by 2022 and is currently among the fastest-growing automakers in the world. Along with SAIC Motor and Tesla China, Chery is also among the Chinese automakers that sell the most cars outside China. The group also has 16 car factories and five R&D centers scattered around the world, leaving no mistake about Chery’s international character.
