For DS Autombiles, the Formula E championship represents an open-air laboratory for DS Performance. But how exactly does that work? We’ll explain.

DS Performance has developed several components for the DS E-Tense FE23. These include the rear engine unit, energy recovery system, transmission, cooling system, electrical system and rear suspension. The brand has also developed software and algorithms that optimize power management.

As mentioned, everything DS Performance learns in Formula E is useful for the development of DS Automobiles’ E-Tense production cars. A striking example is the new DS 7 E-Tense 4×4 360, but why?

Recovery system

Simple: in this plug-in hybrid, the brand applies a recovery system taken directly from Formula E, which is even more efficient than in older models and optimizes management by analyzing brake pedal pressure, providing unprecedented braking quality.

Research and development tool

DS Automobiles results in ABB FIA Formula E

Since the ABB FIA Formula E championship was opened to manufacturers, DS Automobiles has been the only brand to win at least one race each season. In America, Asia, Europe and Africa to date, DS Performance has achieved four world titles, 47 podium finishes and 16 victories in 98 races, with three generations of the Formula E car.
