Volkswagen Multivan: do the seat dance in a plug-in hybrid
Volkswagen Multivan
That flexibility fits the character of this bus perfectly: in fact, the updated Volkswagen Multivan was designed with versatility in mind. Where the Transporter is more of a commercial vehicle and the ID.Buzz is a quirky bus, this is a real family car, a vacation car, a shuttle bus or a driving workplace. Just what you want to make of it.
Versatility in every seat
Inside, the range of seating configurations is impressive. You can use it as a 6- or 7-seater, with configurations such as 2/1/3 or 2/2/2. Incidentally, the 8-seater variant is not available in the Netherlands. In any case, the Volkswagen Multivan offers lots of space and comfort. This is partly due to the choice of two body lengths: 4.97 meters or 5.17 meters. The wheelbase of 3,124 mm ensures a long and flat floor on which a lot turns out to be possible.

The seats can be moved separately via a clever rail system that runs all over the floor. This allows you to tailor the layout to your needs – whether that’s more legroom or extra cargo space. Moreover, the seats are also removable, so you can go from passenger van to moving van in no time.
Storage space abounds: from clever compartments in the doors to the multifunctional center tunnel, which you can slide back, making it accessible to everyone. Depending on the configuration, you can live up to 4,053 liters of luggage space. A towing weight of up to 1,600 kg is also possible, depending on version. This makes the Volkswagen Multivan more than suitable for trailers, folding trailers or caravans.

New technology, more grip
Under the skin, the Volkswagen Multivan has also been given a makeover. The new eHybrid 4MOTION powertrain combines a turbocharged gasoline engine with two electric motors, with the rear axle being fully electrically driven. System output reaches 245 hp (180 kW), and thanks to the 19.7 kWh battery, the electric range is 92 kilometers (WLTP). Fast charging up to 50 kW is also possible. Drive is via a DSG automatic transmission.

Spacious travel with digital luxury
And then there’s the infotainment system, which lets you not only navigate and stream, but even play games. Meanwhile, you keep an eye on the route via the 12.3-inch driver’s screen or the optional 10-inch head-up display. Volkswagen shows with this updated Volkswagen Multivan that a van doesn’t have to be corny or purely functional. This is a modern travel vehicle for people who want space as well as a flexible layout.

The new Volkswagen Multivan eHybrid 4MOTION will appear in Dutch showrooms during the third quarter of 2025. Prices start at 60,990 euros.
