This hot hatchback goes like fire

The Renault 5 only gets really “hot” in the form of the sporty Alpine A290, but even the standard model already manages to convince with smooth performance and fine handling. Even the emergency services have now fallen for it. The safety regions of Flevoland and Gooi and Vecht take a total of eighteen examples into service.

By far the most fives will be employed by the fire department. Twelve cars go to Flevoland, four to the Gooi and Vecht region. The remaining two are green “general” Safety Region vehicles, in service with the Safety Bureau in Hilversum.

Support tasks

All eighteen examples, to be precise, are a Renault 5 Comfort Range Techno. They are thus equipped with the 52 kWh battery pack, which is good for a range of 410 km (WLTP). Apart from the custom color scheme and the addition of “robust rubber floor mats,” these are standard cars. They are used for non-emergency deployments, such as internal transport or support services. These include transportation of personnel or executives at incidents, or other trips between barracks or to the Fire Academy.

Fireman Access
