The first photos of the electric Rolls-Royce Spectre in action without camouflage

In late 2023, Rolls-Royce will launch its first all-electric model: the Spectre. Prior to initial customer deliveries, the EV underwent extensive testing to simulate nearly 400 years of normal use in some of the most extreme conditions on Earth. The brand’s first EV had to go through the most rigorous testing program ever in the brand’s 118-year history.

South Africa

The Spectre is currently undergoing testing in extremely hot weather at two locations in South Africa: Augrabies in the Northern Cape and Franschhoek, in the wine regions of the Western Cape. In every way, these locations closely resemble the area where probably most Spectre models will find their homes: the Cote d’Azur. Not only do you find many winding country roads full of gravel, dust and dirt in these particular areas of South Africa, just like in the south of France, but the weather conditions are also similar to the French coastal region.

2.5 million kilometers

The Spectre already has 2 million test miles behind it. He has 500,000 more to go before the testing program is complete. According to the brand, the car will then have covered the distance of 62 times around the world. Rolls-Royce is now sending photos of a Spectre in action without camouflage into the world for the first time.

Powertrain Rolls-Royce Spectre

The Rolls-Royce Spectre’s final statement of power, acceleration and range has yet to be given. All figures will follow when the finalization and fine-tuning of the Spectre is completed in the second quarter of 2023. The preliminary figures: an electric range of 520 kilometers (WLTP), 900 Nm of pulling power and a 430 kW (585 hp) powertrain. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is expected to take 4.5 seconds.

BMW i7

The Spectre is expected to take on the BMW i7’s largest battery: one with a capacity of 105 kWh. Why we think so? BMW and Rolls-Royce working together. In addition, Rolls-Royce communicates an average power consumption of 21.5 kWh. With an expected range of 520 kilometers, you end up with over 100 kWh of battery capacity anyway.
