The 10 grand electric car comes from Sweden: Luvly O

May 1, 2023

Luvly O is cleverly designed

Fortunately, you don’t have to screw the Luvly O together yourself, as many IKEA furniture pieces do. The Luvly O is super smartly designed though so that transporting it is also a piece of cake. As many as twenty will fit in a standard container. Producing the car requires 80 percent less energy compared to a regular electric car. So an EV with an extra green eco edge.

Dimensions Luvly O

The dimensions then. The Luvly O is 2.7 meters long, 1.53 meters wide and 1.44 meters high. That makes this Luvly about 290 mm longer than an Opel Rocks-e but also a full 932 mm shorter than a Fiat 500. The exterior design is minimalistich. Interestingly, the wheels are “outside” the car. The interior has room for two people and 267 liters of luggage.

Small battery and still lots of range

With a weight of less than 400 kilograms, the Luvly O requires a relatively small battery to still be able to drive a decent distance. The small 6 kWh battery provides a driving range of 100 kilometers. That sounds like pretty little anno 2023, but remember that 100 kilometers in urban areas is quite a long distance. Moreover, the battery is divided into two removable parts that can be charged at home. Charging a module takes one hour via an ordinary European power outlet.

Also safe?

Also, is such a Luvly O a little safe? According to the creators, yes. The design takes into account energy absorption zones that nicely absorb the impact and distribute it to the rest of the chassis. “LUVs are built like Formula One cars, with impact zones and a sandwich composite safety shell that protects passengers. This technology offers by far the best passive safety in its class, and we are constantly working to contribute to safer city driving by developing our own technology and offering alternatives to two-ton cars.”

top speed

The top speed of the Luvly O is limited at 90 km/h, which means the vehicle is allowed to drive on the highway in the Netherlands. Through a smartphone app, it is possible to remotely understand the vehicle’s charging status, location, to activate lights or to have the car honk.

Price tag of 10,000 euros

Luvly – based in Stockholm, Sweden – is already making it possible to reserve one, but is not yet clarifying its market launch. In any case, a quoted price of 10,000 euros is surprisingly sharp. While an Opel Rocks-e is available from as little as 8,500 euros, it reaches only 45 mph. This Luvly O may be considered a full-size car.

The company has already thought about the production of this O. “Our vehicles will be built in Microfactories close to the end customer. Our factories will have a very small footprint and unmatched low capital expenditure. Factories will be operational within 3-6 months of investment, enabling rapid global implementation.”

Luvly AB was founded in Stockholm on June 24, 2015, by Håkan Lutz (founder and CEO) and co-founders Bjorn Lindblom (chairman) and David Egertz (CTO).
