Suzuki eVX concept

Suzuki presented its first all-electric concept SUV at the India Auto Expo. Its name is Suzuki eVX and it is a mid-size SUV. The car is 4.3 meters long, 1.8 meters wide and 1.6 meters high. Thanks to a 60 kWh battery pack, the car can travel 400 kilometers on a full charge of electricity.

New products for different continents

During a press conference at India Auto Expo 2023, President Toshihiro Suzuki said the following: “I am delighted to unveil the eVX, our first global strategic EV. At Suzuki Group, we address global warming as a priority. Therefore, we are promoting a series of global measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In the future, Suzuki will continue to make a valuable contribution in optimizing and developing new products for different continents.”

Harbinger of future Suzuki

Geordy Bloem, Managing Director Suzuki Netherlands, added: “Applying technology to achieve more responsible mobility has been happening at Suzuki for a very long time. Think of our Smart Hybrid technology. The relatively low weight of the Suzuki Ignis and Swift, for example, also contributes directly to lower CO2 emissions. Both result in reliable and affordable mobility and are firmly anchored in Suzuki’s DNA. This enables us to keep extremely cost-effective, modern low-emission mobility as accessible as possible. We are immensely proud of the Suzuki eVX concept because, from Suzuki’s true DNA, it is the harbinger of our future.”

Gamma Suzuki

Suzuki is taking it relatively easy relative to other manufacturers in electrifying its fleet. At the time of writing, the Ignis and Swift mild-hybrids exist, the Swace is a hybrid based on the Toyota Corolla, and the Across is similar to the Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid as a plug-in hybrid. The Suzuki Vitara and S-Cross are also full-fledged hybrids. But for an EV from Suzuki, therefore, it is still a wait until 2025.
