The Toyota Urban SUV Concept will have a length of 4.3 meters, a width of 1.82 meters and a height of 1.62 meters. Suzuki lists the following dimensions for the EVX: a length of 4.3 meters, a width of 1.8 meters and a height of 1.6 meters. Coincidental huh!
By the way, the name eVX stands for Emotional Versatile Cruiser. The Suzuki eVX Concept gives a very concrete preview of this promising model. We can say the same of Toyota’s Urban SUV. It, too, is already 95 percent production-ready.
Batteries and range
The Toyota and Suzuki have particularly generous interior space thanks to a substantial wheelbase. The Suzuki EVX study model has all-wheel drive and features a 60 kWh battery, good for a driving range of up to 500 kilometers according to WLTC (the driving cycle of the WLTP measurement method). Toyota is not mentioning any specifications yet, except to say that two battery packs will be available. In fact, the Suzuki is already giving away one of those batteries.
Plans from Suzuki
Suzuki will announce more about its new electric B segment SUV in 2024. Toyota is doing the same with the production version of the Urban SUV. Suzuki is presenting a total of five all-new models with electric powertrains in Europe through 2030. The brand is investing more than 30 billion euros in all BEVs. The goal: by 2030, about 80 percent of all Suzuki cars sold should have an electric powertrain.
Many more models
At an official presentation, Suzuki presented to the general public a lineup of five models. What should we think about? To an electric off-roader with Jimny design, a trio of electric hatchbacks or crossovers and a Wagon R-like family car (eWX). Suzuki will release more information on all electric models in the near future.
For its part, Toyota is also coming out with several electric models. In addition to the production version of the Urban SUV, the brand will also launch an electric crossover under the bZ4X, a model above the bZ4X and a flagship BEV crossover.
