Sun sets for Rolls-Royce Dawn

May 3, 2023

La dolce vita

The Rolls-Royce Dawn – introduced in 2015 – may be seen as the open variant of the Wraith, another popular model from Rolls-Royce. The Dawn was developed for “la dolce vita,” for people who want to enjoy the good life. That became a success. Like the Wraith, the Dawn also attracted younger buyers to Rolls-Royce.

Twinturbo V12

There was absolutely no shortage of power, as under the hood of the Dawn rests a 6.6-liter twinturbo V12 engine with 571 horsepower. The Dawn also offered the “magic carpet ride” characteristic of Rolls-Royce. That worked. An American journalist was driving through an area hit at the time by an earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale, followed by an aftershock of 2.7. The ride went so smoothly, he didn’t hear about it until he read about it in the press the next morning. In his Dawn, he hadn’t noticed any of it.

Rolls-Royce Dawn Black Badge

In 2017, the Rolls-Royce Dawn Black Badge debuted, with an extra 30 hp and a whopping 840 Nm (+20 Nm) of torque. It was the sportier version of the Dawn, with typical black details. Exact production numbers are not mentioned by the brand, but the manufacturer speaks of a great success.
