Spotted: rare Infiniti QX56 on the A12

December 16, 2022

Infiniti

You may not be familiar with the QX56 or even the Infiniti brand may not tell you anything at all. Then you catch up. Infiniti is the luxury division of Nissan. What Lexus is to Toyota, Infiniti is to Nissan. The brand actually does fairly well everywhere except Western Europe. Therefore, in 2019, the brand decided to leave and close all dealers in Western Europe.

Infiniti QX

The Infiniti QX is an SUV developed for the American market, which is why you almost never see it in the Netherlands. In fact, many Dutch people find a car that is 6 meters long and 2.15 meters wide awkward. The QX56 is based on a Nissan Titan (pick up), which is basically another substantially rebuilt Nissan Patrol.

American license plate

The “American-style” license plate on the QX56 we encountered on the A12 is easily explained. The car was never officially delivered in Europe, so it did not come with a large license plate. However, this “Dutch” QX56 has been driving in our country since January 2005, according to RDW records, and never made meters anywhere else before that.

320 hp

Under the hood is a 5.6-liter V8 from Nissan, good for 320 hp and 533 Nm. This allows the SUV to tow up to 4,000 kg without a problem. And that in all luxury, because really all the gadgets that existed in 2004 when the first generation QX46 was introduced are on this car. Think adaptive cruise control, dual-climate control, a comprehensive infotainment system and a Bose audio system with 10 speakers.
