Porsche Cayenne will be 100% electric!

March 13, 2023

The all-electric Porsche Macan will be available to customers as early as 2024. The all-electric 718 is scheduled for the middle of this decade. In the medium term, it will be available only as an all-electric model. This will be followed by the all-electric Porsche Cayenne. The fourth generation of the SUV underscores Porsche’s goal of delivering more than 80 percent of its new vehicles fully electric by 2030.

There will also be an SUV over the Cayenne

Porsche also plans to expand its product portfolio upward with an all-electric SUV above the Cayenne. This new vehicle concept is designed to offer strong performance and automated driving features with the typical Porsche flyline, along with a completely new in-vehicle experience. It is based on the SSP Sport platform developed by Porsche. “With this we underline and strengthen our sporty luxury positioning. We see growing profit pools in this segment, especially in China and the US,” explained Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board.

Comprehensive update Porsche Cayenne in 2023

As early as 2023, the Cayenne will undergo one of the most extensive upgrades in Porsche’s history. Updates to the third-generation model include three upgraded plug-in hybrids with increased range. The chassis is also being improved.

Sustainability goals of Porsche

Porsche has also set itself ambitious sustainability goals. As part of its strategy, the company is working toward a net carbon neutral value chain for its vehicles by 2030. This includes a net CO2-neutral use phase for future BEV models (based on an assumed total mileage of 200,000 kilometers per vehicle ). In 2022, Porsche also set up a pilot e-fuels plant with partners in Chile. Production has been running since December. “With this, we have demonstrated that e-fuels can be produced on an industrial scale,” Blume said.

Porsche in 2022

In 2022, Porsche delivered 309,884 cars. The Cayenne remains the absolute best-seller, followed by the Macan and 911. The 718 is Porsche’s least popular model. Compared to 2021, Porsche sales in 2022 increased by a fat three percent.
