Official: F1 organization confirms new date Grand Prix of the Netherlands 2023

September 6, 2022

Zandvoort 2023

It seemed to become a tradition: after the GP of Belgium, Zandvoort is on the Formula 1 calendar. But the organization is going to turn the agenda upside down. The 2022 calendar won’t be known for another few weeks, but we already know when the lights will go green at Zandvoort next year.

August 27

The Dutch Grand Prix in 2023 will be the first Formula One race after the summer break. Stefano Domenicali, the big F1 boss, has confirmed to De Telegraaf that the Formula 1 circus will descend on Circuit Zandvoort in the weekend of August 25, 26 and 27.

“It’s great to see the enthusiasm, the excitement and also the respect of the fans in the Netherlands. We look forward to being back here next year right after the summer break,” Domenicali told the Waking Netherlands newspaper.

Grand Prix of Belgium

It had long looked like Zandvoort would take over the spot from the Belgian Grand Prix. Spa-Francorchamps’ current Formula 1 contract expires this year and it was long unclear whether the circuit would be back on the calendar in 2023. Additional races in China, Las Vegas and Qatar will be added in 2023, so Spa seemed to be the child of the bill. Only recently was it announced that Belgium will not be skipped next year. However, the GP of our southern neighbors will be held earlier, in July already. As a result, the race in Zandvoort will be brought forward one week.
