Motor Morini comes out with custom bike Calibro

October 11, 2023

The Moto Morini Calibro is a mid-size cruiser or custom bike. For a not terribly populous segment, which also includes the Kawasaki Vulcan and the Honda CMX500 Rebel. The Calibro’s twin engine, an upright twin, has a capacity of 649 cc and produces 61 hp and 54 Nm of torque. There will also be a tweaked 35 kW (48 hp) version for A2 license holders.

Moto Morini resurrects

In itself, the cruiser is quite remarkable for an originally somewhat sporty brand like Moto Morini. Traditionally an Italian brand, it has been owned by China’s Zhongneng Vehicle Group since 2018. Since then, there has been capital for development of new models and we are now seeing the tangible fruits of this.

Modular construction

The block is the same as in the Moto Morini X-Cape and the Seiemmezzo, but that’s where taking advantage of the modular principle ends. The frame of the Calibro is totally different. It is a steel double cradle frame, whose double-sided swingarm is also made with traditional double spring-shock absorber units. The motor drives the rear wheel via a toothed belt, so that’s nice and low maintenance.

Low seat and fairly light

The Moto Morini Calibro is nice and low with a seat height of 720 mm, so it is ideal if you are small in stature. The weight of 200 kg dry is also not shockingly high. The front fork is traditional and has fork legs with a diameter of 41 mm. The suspension travel here is 14 inches and behind it is 11 inches. At the front, the bike has a single 320 mm brake disc and 255 mm at the rear. The calipers are from the Spanish supplier J.Juan.

Price not yet known

Importer Moto Mondo is not reporting a price at this time. Delivery will begin sometime next year (2024). In photos, the Moto Morini Calibro looks sleek and well finished in quality. The previously driven X-Cape also excelled in good driving performance and neat workmanship.
