Justice takes away BMW convertible from Sywert van Lienden

At the beginning of the year, the FIOD already took a look at Sywert’s home. Detectives from the tax investigation service also snooped in his gray BMW Z4 Convertible at the time. Why they did so is by now well known. Van Lienden paid the BMW of at least 85,000 euros with money he earned from supplying mouthguards. He wanted to help the “heroes of healthcare” with this mouthpiece deal for free, but through the bv Relief Goods Alliance, Van Lienden put nine million euros in his own pocket. What he did with the other 8,915,000 euros is now being investigated by the FIOD. Justice today seized money and various items in the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Switzerland.

The BMW of Sywert
Sywert’s BMW Z4 is not yet as well known as its owner himself, but by now it also has a well-known status. Before Sywert went over the top, he tweeted that one day he wanted a BMW Z4 in his driveway. Preferably in the color Misano Blau, he wrote at the time. He failed to do the latter, because shortly after he made his move during the corona crisis, a gray BMW Z4 M40i was spotted outside his door. But also the fattest version: the Z4 M40i
BMW Z4 M40i
The M40i is the most powerful version of the current generation BMW Z4. It features a 3.0-liter six-cylinder gasoline engine with 340 hp. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.6 seconds. Fast enough to stay ahead of a Mercedes-Benz B-Class from the police. What will happen to the BMW is not yet clear, but there is a chance that sooner or later you will come across it at the Domeinen Roerende Zaken. Or in other words, the auction site where the government posts everything that the police, FIOD, etc. confiscate. The Z4 has probably already clocked up some mileage from all the trips between the Netherlands, Switzerland and Luxembourg and it has also been sniffed around quite a bit by FIOD dogs.
