Kia EV4: the new darling of the Dutch?

The Kia EV4 builds on the success of the EV3, but takes the next step in space, comfort and looks. Thanks to a 14 cm longer wheelbase (from 2.68 to 2.82 m), the EV4 offers more legroom in the rear, and the length of the hatchback variant measures 4.43 m (the fastback even up to 4.73 m). Although the hatchback’s luggage space is slightly less than the EV3 (435 liters versus 460), flexibility remains high: up to 1,415 liters when the rear seats are folded down. The body design is a mix: the front is reminiscent of the EV6 with a streamlined line, while the rear is more angular as you would expect from Kia’s compact SUVs.

Excellent performance

Under the hood, the EV4 shares much technology with the EV3, on the same E-GMP platform. The standard version delivers 150 kW (204 hp) with 234 Nm of torque, and the 0-100 km/h sprint takes about 7.8 seconds. There are two battery packs: 58.3 kWh for a range of up to about 450 km and 81.4 kWh for a (theoretical) maximum of 630 km according to the manufacturer. In terms of charging speed, the EV4 offers up to 11 kW AC and 120 kW DC, with Kia stating that the charging curve remains stable around 120 kW – with that you can charge from 10% to 80% in about half an hour.

Sleek interior

Inside, the EV4 feels both familiar and refined. Kia uses two 12.3-inch displays (instrument cluster and infotainment) and a 5.3-inch screen for climate controls, while retaining physical buttons under the center screen for quick access. The interior looks sleek and horizontal, with soft materials at touch points such as door panels and armrests – a layout that visually enhances width. Practically, there are plenty of storage options, multiple USB-C ports, wireless charging and even a rear power outlet.

Price Kia EV4

The Kia EV4 is available as a five-door hatchback and a tasteful four-door fastback. Pricing starts at 37,695 euros for the hatchback. There is a choice of a 58.3 kWh or 81.4 kWh battery.
