What makes French Midual so expensive?

Midual Motocycles most likely doesn’t tell you much. Yet this motorcycle manufacturer has been developing exclusive motorcycles since 1992. Pieces of art on wheels they are, and so is the price. The first Type 1 Series 1 appeared in 2013, after the first prototype was shown in 2007.

Midual an all shine

Midual has previously released the Series 1 and Series 2 of its Type 1. Now there is the Series 3 where the bar of exclusivity has been raised even higher. The engine gleams at you with lots of polished aluminum components and very distinct styling.

Midual boxer engine

Propulsion comes from a two-cylinder boxer engine with a displacement of 1,036cc. The block is not transverse to the direction of travel as in BMW, but longitudinally and then tilted forward 25 degrees. The block produces around 100 hp and a maximum torque of 102 Nm. Doesn’t seem like much, but with a driveable weight of 219 kg, the performance will be quite snappy in practice.

Very small edition and handwork

Midual reports that about 20 units of the Series 3 will be built. As an interested buyer, you have a lot of say in and choices of materials and finishes. It’s only fair at that price. Each one will have its own unique production number, along with the guarantee that the engine was hand-built.

Pedestal in the living room

Sometimes something is too good to use. You get the same feeling when you see these Midual motorcycles. You would rather put something like this on a pedestal in the middle of your living room than on the sidewalk in front of a crowded terrace. Even if you are then assured of curious and eager glances.
