Volkswagen ID. CROSS – Everything you need to know
Volkswagen ID. CROSS
Like previous ID. concepts, the ID. CROSS Concept shows how Volkswagen is shaping its future. The brand speaks of “Pure Positive” design: clean lines, friendly shapes and recognizable details that refer to icons such as the Golf and the classic VW bus. What the ID. Cross Concept is above all: an electric successor to the T-Cross.

Compact on the outside, spacious on the inside
At 4.16 meters long and 1.84 meters wide, the ID. CROSS Concept is close in size to the T-Cross. But with a remarkable amount of interior space: 450 liters of luggage space in the rear plus an additional 25 liters in the frunk. Special detail in the interior: the seats fold down completely, giving you a sofa bed. Right, a big nod to Volkswagen’s camping vans.

Lounge feeling on wheels
Inside, Volkswagen opts for soft materials and a light “Vanilla Chai” color scheme. Through the so-called Atmospheres, you easily adjust light, sound and climate to your mood, according to the brand. Controls are a mix of clear screens (11 and 13 inches), voice commands and still some physical buttons. Whether the final production version actually gets the interior of a lounge club in Ibiza remains to be seen for now.

Engineering under the skin
Under the skin, everything revolves around the MEB platform, which is now being upgraded to MEB+. The ID. CROSS Concept features a 155 kW (211 hp) electric motor and front-wheel drive. The range comes out to a maximum of 420 kilometers according to preliminary WLTP figures. The SUV reaches 175 km/h and can tow up to 1,200 kilograms with brakes – enough for a light caravan or trailer. Useful for bicycle vacations: the 75-kilogram nose weight is sufficient for two e-bikes.

Part of a larger plan
Volkswagen is pushing hard with compact electric models. In addition to the ID. CROSS Concept, the ID. Polo, ID. Polo GTI and ID. EVERY1 coming to market in the next few years. The production version of the ID. Cross will be unveiled in the summer of 2026 and built at the Navarra, Spain plant.
