Update for BYD Atto 3: is there really that much different?

What’s all new? At least fresh 18-inch alloy wheels, a black D-pillar and privacy glass. There is also a new color: Cosmos Black. Skiing White, Climbing Grey and Surfing Blue colors were already available. In the interior, we now detect black faux leather upholstery with stitching in lime green. Around the steering wheel and the button cluster on the center console BYD now applies copper-colored details.

Extra rich equipment

Were those the cosmetic updates? Yep, actually they were. So it’s not a very shocking update. Although there have also been changes in terms of equipment. The BYD Atto 3 is available in Comfort and Design versions. The Comfort version came standard with a power panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable front seats, a 360-degree panoramic camera, seat heating and a heat pump. The upgraded Atto 3 Comfort adds a rain sensor, steering wheel heater, privacy glass and a more powerful 110 kW DC charger. A wireless 15W charging option for smartphones and an audio system with eight speakers and Dirac HD sound optimization complete the package.

In addition to the above equipment, the richer-equipped Design trim had standard features such as a power tailgate, larger central display (15.6 inches versus 12.8 inches in Comfort), 3.3 kW Vehicle to Load connection, multicolor ambient lighting and active air purification system. The upgraded Atto 3 adds seat ventilation.

The same technique

The Atto 3 has an electric motor with an output of 150 kW (204 hp) and maximum torque of 310 Nm, which drives the front wheels. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 7.3 seconds and the top speed is 160 km/h. The Blade Battery with a capacity of 60.4 kWh enables a range of up to 420 km (WLTP). The Atto 3 features a heat pump as standard. With a maximum permissible towing weight of 750kg, small trailers, bike carriers and tow bar cases are no problem.

The updated Atto 3 is now available at all BYD stores in the Netherlands. The Comfort is available from 40,690 euros and the Design starts at 42,690 euros.
