Toyota bZ4X Touring: the ‘Subaru Outback’ of Toyota
Toyota bZ4X Touring is extraordinary EV!
With the new Toyota bZ4X Touring, Toyota expands its electric SUV range with a model that the brand says is “designed specifically for people who want to drive electric, but don’t want to sacrifice anything on comfort or practicality. Think more space, convenient functionality and reliable performance in all conditions – even during a cold winter.”
The Toyota bZ4X Touring will come alongside models such as the new Urban Cruiser, the C-HR+ and the updated bZ4X. The marketing department would also like to add, “The bZ4X Touring also targets people with active lifestyles.” So if you occasionally take a walk, breathe and exercise even more, you are the target market. Just kidding.

Much roomier
The Touring version is larger than the standard Toyota bZ4X: the car is 14 centimeters longer and 2 centimeters higher. As a result, you get a whopping 600 liters of luggage space, an increase of 148 liters. Ideal for vacations or sporting outings, especially thanks to the convenient fold-down rear seat (40:60 ratio). The higher roofline also makes it easier to carry large items. Because the electric drive takes up little space, there is plenty of room left over for passengers and luggage. Everything is arranged practically, without concessions. And that, in turn, may be called smart.
Also with AWD
The Toyota bZ4X Touring is available with both front-wheel drive and AWD. The all-wheel-drive variant features Toyota’s X-MODE system with Grip Control, which allows you to move forward effortlessly even on loose or bumpy surfaces. New eAxles with more efficient semiconductors (SiC) provide better performance, less weight and more efficiency.
Under the floor is a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, good for smooth charging and a solid range. Fast charging (DC) can be done with about 150 kW. For home or AC charging, there is a choice between an 11 kW or 22 kW on-board charger, depending on the version. In cold conditions, an automatic pre-heating system helps bring the battery up to ideal temperature so charging times do not increase. Navigating to a fast charging station automatically activates this feature.
In terms of power, you can choose from the following versions:
- The FWD variant delivers up to 165 kW (224 hp).
- With 280 kW (380 hp), the AWD variant is the most powerful electric Toyota to date and can tow a 1,500 kg trailer.

Up to 10 years warranty
Toyota also offers an extended battery warranty on this model: up to 10 years or 300,000 kilometers, provided the battery is checked annually through the so-called Battery Health Check program.
Design with outdoor character
Unlike the sleek, futuristic bZ4X, the Touring has a more rugged, adventurous look. We didn’t mention the Subaru Outback in this story for nothing. This Toyota clearly has that same “vibe. Think black accents around the wheel arches, black rims and fixed roof rails. The rear end has been extended and features a new bumper and more modern LED taillights, adding to the ‘outdoor look’.
New to the color palette: Brilliant Bronze. Inside, the upholstery in City Moss color catches the eye. The layout is practical, with an updated center console, space for smartphones and a large 14-inch multimedia screen.
Expected in 2026
Toyota will bring the bZ4X Touring to the Dutch market in the first half of 2026. Technical details and prices will follow later, but one thing is certain: this SUV will be an interesting option for those who want to combine comfort, space and electric mobility.
