This updated Citroën ë-Berlingo is an electric space wonder

December 12, 2023

Berlingo

Recently Citroën pulled the curtain off the revamped commercial vehicle version of the Berlingo, now we get to see the passenger version. The model has an almost completely redesigned front end with the new Citroën logo. The nose features the French brand’s new design language, which we have previously seen on the compact ë-C3.

Inside

In the interior, things have also been addressed. There is a 10-inch HD touchscreen, which is positioned high, making it easy to read and operate. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and also displays the image from the rearview camera. Behind the wheel, we detect a digital instrument cluster.

Roof airbag

The airbag is not on top of the dashboard, but in the roof. This leaves room on the dashboard for additional storage. The updated interior also offers two USB ports, a wireless smartphone charger and a new steering wheel with various controls (driver assistance systems, phone, radio, etc.) and optional steering wheel heater. Extra comfortable Citroën Advanced Comfort Seats are also available.

Dimensions

The Citroën ë-Berlingo is offered in two length variants. The standard M version (4.40 meters long) always has a modular seating arrangement with three independent, sliding and folding seats in the second row of seats. The extended version XL (4.75 meters long) is optionally available as a seven-seater with two additional seats in the third row of seats. By folding down all the seats, including the back of the passenger seat, the ë-Berlingo offers a completely flat cargo floor with a length of 2.70 meters in the M version and even 3.05 meters in the XL version. Luggage compartment capacity ranges from 775 liters (under the parcel shelf in the M version) to 4,000 liters with seats folded down in the XL version. In the cabin of the ë-Berlingo there are a total of 27 storage compartments with a combined volume of 186 liters.

LFP battery

Compared to the outgoing model, the redesigned Citroën ë-Berlingo offers a 20% greater driving range of up to 320 kilometers (WLTP). The powertrain consists of a 136 hp electric motor powered by a new 50 kWh LFP battery.

The new regenerative braking system – where the driver has a choice of three recovery modes using the shift paddles behind the steering wheel – allows the car to brake on the engine. The ë-Berlingo also has three driving modes: Eco for maximum range, Power for maximum performance and Normal. A heat pump to heat or cool the interior without loss of battery power is optionally available.

The new Citroën ë-Berlingo is equipped as standard with an 11 kW on-board charger for alternating current (AC) charging, which enables the battery to be fully charged from 0-100% in about 5 hours. Fast charging with direct current (DC) is possible with power up to 100 kW, with 30 minutes of charging sufficient to charge the battery to 80%.

Spring 2024

Citroën supplies the ë-Berlingo with a choice of five body colors, including the new Kiama Blue and Sirkka Green, complementing Kaolin White, Perla Nera Black and Steel Grey. Sales will begin in the spring of 2024. Prices start at 37,940, euros making the updated Citroën ë-Berlingo 2,980 euros cheaper than before.
