New Chinese car brand on its way to the Netherlands: Chery Tiggo already on sale this summer

April 24, 2026

Chery is probably the biggest car brand you’ve never heard of. The company has become China’s largest car exporter since its founding in 1997. Many millions of cars have been sold worldwide under various brand names. The Chinese powerhouse is also the parent company of Omoda and Jaecoo, which are already on sale in the Netherlands.

Now Chery is making its entrance into the Netherlands under its own brand name. Considerable preparations have already been made in the background, as from next July sales will start from twenty branches throughout the Netherlands. The brand kicks off with the Tiggo 4, Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8.

Chery Tiggo 4

The Chery Tiggo 4 is the brand’s entry-level model for the B-SUV segment. The model is 4.32 meters long and has a 430-liter trunk. The Tiggo 4 features a full hybrid powertrain with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor, good for a system output of 120 kW (163 hp).

Chery Tiggo 7

A 4.55-meter-long plug-in hybrid for the C-SUV segment, the Chery Tiggo 7 is aimed at families seeking more space. The propulsion system delivers a system output of 205 kW (279 hp) and offers the possibility of driving up to 90 km fully electric. Together with a full tank of gasoline, a total distance of about 1,200 km can be covered.

Chery Tiggo 8

The Chery Tiggo 8 is a seven-seater in the D-segment. This SUV has the same powertrain as the Tiggo 7 with an electric range of up to 90 km, but offers more interior space thanks to its length of 4.72 meters. With the rear seats folded down, 889 liters of luggage space is available.

Chery Tiggo 9 to follow later

In early 2027, the Chery Tiggo 9 will be added to the lineup, the top version in the series. This model is a fraction more spacious than the Tiggo 8, but the difference is mainly in the powertrain. The Tiggo 9 has a plug-in hybrid powertrain with three electric motors and permanent all-wheel drive. The 34.4 kWh NMC battery is good for an electric range of up to 142 km.

7-year warranty

Prices for the Dutch market are not yet known. These will follow in the run-up to the market introduction of the Chery models in July 2026. The brand has already announced that all Tiggo models come with a seven-year or 150,000-kilometer manufacturer’s warranty. The battery pack comes with an eight-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty.
