You may think of the Leapmotor B05 as an electric hatchback, with coupe-like proportions thanks to distinctive frameless doors. At 4,430 mm long and 1,880 mm wide, the B05 is anything but small. Aerodynamics play an important role in the design. This resulted in, among other things, an active grille, front air curtains and optimized wind deflectors on the flanks. All these contribute to a low drag coefficient of 0.26. Distinctive blade-style LED headlights, a continuous light bar at the rear, muscular body lines and 19-inch Swift-Wing aerodynamic alloy wheels complete the dynamic look.

Electric power of 218 hp

The B05 has an electric powertrain with 160 kW (218 hp) of power and 240 Nm of torque. Rear-wheel drive and a 50:50 weight distribution should result in fun handling. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 6.7 seconds. The Leapmotor B05 offers a choice of two battery packs: 56.2 kWh with a WLTP range of up to 401 km and, in the ProMax variant, 67.1 kWh with a WLTP range of up to 482 km. Thanks to Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) integration, the battery is a structural part of the body. This provides 13% higher energy density, lower vehicle weight and greater rigidity. Fast charging up to 174 kW (DC) allows the battery to charge from 30% to 80% in about 17 minutes.

Safety Leapmotor B05

Safety is central to the development of the Leapmotor B05. The car has a sturdy body structure with a torsional rigidity of 34,500 Nm/°. Leapmotor uses strong steels and an optimized design for this purpose. There are seven airbags, including a central airbag to reduce injuries in side impacts. For added confidence, the B05 has 21 driver assistance systems, controlled by 14 sensors and cameras. The B05 offers Level 2 driving assistance.

Interior

The interior of the B05 looks tidy. We spy a 14.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen with an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel. High-quality materials and soft surfaces enhance the quality experience, according to the manufacturer. The top Design version has Oeko-Tex synthetic leather seat covers, and in this version the front seats and steering wheel are heatable. The driver and passenger seats are electrically adjustable. This version also has dynamic ambient lighting with a choice of 64 colors and an audio system with 12 speakers.

Luggage space Leapmotor B05

Thanks to its CTC architecture, the B05 offers generous interior space for both front and rear passengers. The rear seatback can be adjusted up to 27 degrees for added comfort on long drives. A panoramic glass roof with electric sunshade (standard for Design) lets in plenty of natural light and creates a bright, spacious atmosphere. For practicality, there are 25 storage compartments and a luggage compartment of up to 1,400 liters with the rear seats folded down.

Leap OS 4.0 Plus

Leap OS 4.0 Plus provides an intuitive digital interface supported by comprehensive connected services through the Leapmotor App. Users can remotely control functions such as door locking, climate control, charging and battery pre-heating. The app also provides access to real-time vehicle status and location. A digital key function and advanced security options provide convenience, connectivity and peace of mind both on the road and at home.

Colors and designs

The Leapmotor B05 is available in several colors: Lightning Yellow, Windy Grey, Metallic Black, Starry Night Blue and Galaxy Silver. The B05 also comes in Pro Life, ProMax Life and ProMax Design versions.

Life and Design

The Life version is available with two battery packs: the 56.2 kWh Pro (up to 401 km WLTP) and the 67.1 kWh ProMax (up to 482 km WLTP). The Design version tops the range and is available exclusively with the 67.1 kWh ProMax battery pack. This version offers additional comfort features, more refined interior materials and a premium audio system.

Leapmotor B05 Life

The Life trim is already quite complete with standard features including 19-inch alloy wheels, automatic air conditioning, wireless phone charger, online navigation, Apple Carplay and Android Auto plus Over The Air Updates. Also standard are an energy-efficient heat pump and a 360-degree rearview camera. Also standard is a host of ADAS systems that help keep the car within the lane, warn of traffic in the blind spot, automatically adjust speed to match traffic when cruise control is engaged and automatic braking in the event of an impending collision from the front or rear.

The Leapmotor B05 is available in Pro Life trim from €25,995 (Private lease from €429 and full operational lease from €399 per month). Private lease is based on 72 months and 5,000 km per year. Full operational lease is based on 60 months and 10,000 km per year. Leapmotor offers an extended warranty of 8 years or 160,000 km on the traction battery in the Netherlands.
