This is the new MINI Cooper with gasoline engine

February 7, 2024

Power of choice

“At MINI, ‘Power of Choice’ means that in addition to all-electric MINI models, we also offer models with a gasoline engine. The car is ideal for anyone who wants to drive a ‘classic’ MINI 3-Door and appreciates the traditional performance and characteristic sound of an internal combustion engine,” said Stefanie Wurst, Head of MINI.

Two different powertrains

The MINI Cooper C constitutes the base version with a three-cylinder gasoline engine rated at 115 kW (156 hp). Torque comes out to 230 Nm, good for a 0-100 jump of 7.7 seconds. The Cooper C has combined fuel consumption of 5.9 to 6.5 l/100 km and combined CO2 emissions of 133 to 146 g/km.

The MINI Cooper S has a four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine with an output of 150 kW (204 hp) and torque of 300 Nm. The Cooper S has average fuel consumption of 6.1 to 6.7 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 138 to 150 g/km. The Cooper S version sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds.

Exterior design

At the front of the gasoline versions, the new octagonal grille defines the face. The BMW Group’s smallest radar sensor to date is located on the horizontal support between the air intakes. A total of 12 ultrasonic sensors in the MINI Cooper support the driver assistance systems. Horizontal LED daytime running lights underscore the new look in the standard setting. The striking appearance is enhanced by three selectable light signatures for the daytime running lights of the MINI LED headlights and the redesigned matrix taillights. All three selectable light signals begin and end with a special welcome or farewell animation.

The interior

The MINI Cooper’s minimalist interior design is inspired by the classic Mini. The new steering wheel, the round oled display, the typical MINI toggle bar with toggle switches and the two-tone textile dashboard create a striking atmosphere. By folding down the rear seats in a 60:40 ratio, the luggage space can be flexibly expanded from 210 liters to a volume of up to 725 liters.

Toggle bar

The main driving functions (parking brake, shift lever, “start/stop” key, experience mode switch, volume control) are directly accessible via the distinctive toggle bar. The shift lever in the center console gives way to the new Wireless Charging Shelf 2.0. Smartphones can be laid out here and charged wirelessly.

MINI Interaction Unit

The MINI Interaction Unit is placed closer to the driver in the MINI Cooper cockpit. The diameter of the thin high-resolution OLED display with high-quality glass bezel is 240 mm. The operating logic is similar to that of a smartphone and can be operated intuitively with touch.

Four trims

The new trims Essential, Classic, Favoured and JCW offer a wide range of customization options. Depending on the trim, the new MINI Cooper C and MINI Cooper S are available with different body finishes and interior trims.

The body colors can be combined with any of the four roof colors and provide different contrasts. The color combinations are trim-specific; for example, an exclusive option in combination with the Favoured Trim package is the Spray-Tech design of the distinctive Multitone Roof. This one has a gradient in three colors. New, aerodynamically optimized designs are available for aluminum rims from 16- to 18-inches.
