This is the cheapest plug-in hybrid in the Netherlands
The BYD ATTO 2 is a compact SUV measuring 4.31 meters long and 1.67 meters high. It was introduced in the Netherlands in early 2025 with all-electric drive, so it is now also available as a plug-in hybrid. As a buyer, you can choose between two versions. The Boost version will be in the showroom from early March 2026 for prices starting at 32,490 euros. A few weeks later, the Active variant will appear, which, with a price starting at 29,490 euros, can call itself the most economical plug-in hybrid in the Netherlands. The entry-level model is priced over 500 euros lower than the Leapmotor B10 Hybrid EV, also from China, which was previously the cheapest PHEV.

Two engine versions
The BYD ATTO 2’s so-called ‘Super Hybrid DM-i ‘ drive system combines an electric motor with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. Short and medium journeys can be fully electric. When the battery level drops or additional power is needed, the gasoline engine automatically engages to drive the wheels and/or charge the battery.
The Active version offers system power of 122 kW (166 hp) and an electric range of up to 40 km. combined with a full tank of gasoline, a distance of 930 km can be covered without refueling or charging. The Boost version has a larger battery that allows up to 90 km of all-electric driving. With 156 kW (212 hp) of system power, it is also a lot more powerful and faster, while the combined driving range is 1,000 km.
Practical and complete
As with any BYD, in the ATTO 2 you can already count on a complete equipment standard combined with solid materials and fine build quality. Inside, the compact SUV offers 425 liters of luggage space, with a completely flat load floor. With the rear seats folded down, the cargo capacity grows to 1,335 liters. This makes the ATTO 2 DM-i sufficiently practical for a variety of use profiles.
The model also features an updated 12.8-inch infotainment screen with integrated Google Automotive Services. This makes Google Maps and Google Assistant, among others, readily available, as well as apps from the Google Play Store, such as Waze and YouTube. Depending on the trim level, the BYD ATTO 2 DM-i also features a panoramic roof with electric sunshade, privacy glass, a 360-degree parking camera and heated front seats.
