The hypercar brand you didn’t know yet: Zenvo Automotive

December 11, 2022

Danish made

Zenvo’s are made in the Danish town of Præstø. There is a factory there that makes five cars a year. The founders of Zenvo Automotive are Jesper Jensen, Troels Vollertsen and Lasse Stenkilde. Remarkably, the three gentlemen have very different backgrounds. Thus, Vollertsen has a past in motor sports; among other things, he has been active in the world of rallycross for a long time. Jensen in turn previously owned an IT company, with which he made his fortune after selling it. Stenkilde is originally an engineer, whose skills include considerable knowledge and expertise in the manufacture of bodies. In 2004, the diverse trio decided to pursue their dream and work together, with the creation of Zenvo. The rest is recent history.

ST1

After many hours at the drawing board, the Danes came up with a first prototype in 2008. The model was christened the ST1, but was not finally ready for sale. In 2009, the Zenvo ST1 was first presented to the general public, although the supercar was still not 100% ready to go into production. That moment suprême was still 2 years away. But once the time came, Zeno immediately managed to make a smashing impression. Equipped with a supercharged 6.8-liter V8, the ST1 produces a whopping 1,104 hp and 1,430 Nm of torque. In 2011, such giga powerhouses were still a rarity, and Zenvo nestled into hypercar territory without batting an eyelid and in awe.

The ST1’s 0-100 time is a mere 3.0 seconds, which was incredibly fast at the time (and actually still is). The blown eight-cylinder is tunable in three modes, resulting in a different power output for each mode. For wet weather conditions, the rider can opt for “wet” mode, where the engine delivers “only” 650 horsepower. The other two modes are “sport” and “race. The engine then sends 850 and 1,104 horsepower to the wheels, respectively. The weight of the Zenvo ST1 is a manageable 1,688 kilograms. A total of fifteen Zenvo ST1s were built.

Zenvo TSR-S

One of Zenvo’s latest models is the TSR-S. This is a car of which the Danes will most likely build slightly more than the ST1, as far as demand goes. The most striking part of the TSR-S is the unusual rear wing. This spoiler makes a counter movement in turns to generate additional downforce. The TSR-S produces 1,193 hp and takes 2.8 seconds to sprint to 100 km/h. Price tag? A sloppy 1,450,000 euros. Zenvo also recently presented the Zenvo TSR-GT. The edition of these is limited to three. This hypercar has a limited(!) top speed of 424 km/h!
