Spotted: old and new with the Renault 4

As you could read earlier this week, we drove the new Renault 4(road test). During the test week, we also came across the original model on an industrial estate in Purmerend. We took our chance and put both cars side by side.
The modern example is the brand new Renault 4 Iconic Comfort Range we tested. The classic example is a 1992 Renault 4 TL, which has been in the Netherlands since 2021. With that year of construction, it is one from the last regular production year of the original 4. For some markets, production continued until 1994.
Old and new
Now that both cars are side by side, it is easy to see how many design elements of the original Renault 4 have found their way into the modern version. Of course, the dimensions and proportions have changed, but as far as we are concerned, Renault has given a very successful modern interpretation of the original design.
