Renault 5 Turbo 3E in action for public debut

October 10, 2025

The Turbo 3E is Renault’s modern tribute to the legendary R5 Turbo of the 1980s – but all-electric. With 408 kW (555 hp), in-wheel electric motors and a carbon chassis, it is built for pure thrills. The driver sits right in the middle, just like in a race car, while the chassis is tuned for maximum drift control.

Spectacular demonstration rides in historic setting

The Renault 5 Turbo 3E prototypes gave demonstrations in front of an enthusiastic crowd, on an enclosed area in the port of Calvi and on the course of the iconic Notre Dame de la Serra and Montegrosso special stages. For this occasion, the prototypes appeared in a black-yellow-white livery in tribute to the Tour de Corse, and in a red-white-blue livery in tribute to Jean Ragnotti’s Maxi 5 Turbo, which won the Tour de Corse there in 1985 – exactly forty years ago.

The Renault 5 Turbo 3E was driven by Julien Saunier, Renault ambassador and rally driver. Saunier’s successes included the Alpine Eleven Rally in 2021, the Historic Monte-Carlo Rally in 2022 and the Tour de Corse Historique in 2024.
