Oldtimer Grand Prix 2025: a paradise for car spotters – AutoRAI TV
Approximately 300 kilometers drive
We will depart from the surroundings of Breda, in sunny Brabant. From Breda it’s about a 300 kilometer drive. In theory it can be done in less than three hours, but you have to keep driving. Because we want to make maximum use of our day during the Oldtimer Grand Prix, we leave nice and early in the morning. Around 5 am. We could not imagine a better way to get there. No traffic jams, no work. Delicious. Therefore, the outward journey is already progressing nicely. The asphalt kilometers fly under the sports suspension of this blissful sports car. The landscape becomes more undulating. A sign that we are almost there. On to the Nürburgring! On to the Oldtimer Grand Prix.

Iconic red Nürburgring letters
The closer you get to the final destination, the more special the cars you encounter become. Of course, we also drive past the iconic red Nürburgring letters that many a petrolhead has already taken a picture of. Time to find a parking spot for our 911 GT3 and enjoy all the automotive beauty. We have only been parked for five minutes when a Jaguar D-Type passes by. Not much later, two Ford GTs pass by.
Oldtimer Grand Prix
The Oldtimer Grand Prix takes place annually at the legendary Nürburgring, usually in August. Since its first edition in 1973, it has become a must-attend event for fans of historic cars and motorsports. What makes the event special? Not only are cars on display here, but there is also real racing. As a paying visitor, you can see former Formula 1 cars, Group C racers, touring cars and pre-war racing cars. We choose a different approach: just walk around and enjoy everything that comes along. After all, the event is a paradise for car spotters and enthusiasts.

Atmosphere impression of event
An auction is also always held during the Oldtimer Grand Prix in the Boulevard. “Once, twice, sold!” Check out our video for a little atmospheric impression of that auction. Just a quick stop at the AMG Store where we bump into a GT2 and Formula 1 car and then we quickly head out again. Our goal: a tour around the many parking lots around the circuit. There, too, you don’t know what you’re seeing. Moreover, several clubs descend on the event. This year they were clubs from Fiat, Opel, BMW and Mazda. In our video you walk along digitally.
Great traveling museum
The Oldtimer Grand Prix attracts a very mixed crowd. You see car enthusiasts of all ages: from families to seasoned techies and drivers. You just don’t know what you’re seeing. It’s not an elitist event, more like a big driving museum. The Oldtimer Grand Prix is an experience you must have experienced at least once as a car enthusiast. By Porsche 911 GT3, the trip there and back was completely a celebration. An extensive review of the new GT3 will follow.
