First NIO House of the Netherlands

The first NIO House in the Netherlands – located at De Meent 80-84 in Rotterdam – is the next step in NIO’s expansion plans. Since the brand’s launch in late 2022, NIO has introduced two models in the Netherlands. In addition, NIO users at the changing stations can change their NIO’s battery for a full one within minutes. Four battery switching stations are already open and several under construction.

Branches in Europe

Following the opening of the NIO House in Rotterdam, this year’s events include the launch of the NIO ET5 and the opening of the NIO House in Amsterdam. Three NIO Houses have now opened their doors in Europe; in addition to Rotterdam, NIO also has branches in Oslo and Berlin. NIO plans to open five more European branches by the end of the year.

What is an NIO House?

But what exactly is NIO House? Everyone here can immerse themselves in the world of NIO and experience the models live, but most importantly, relax, get inspired, work, hold meetings and meet others over a cappuccino in the NIO Café while the kids play in the Children’s Hub. 

Meeting place

NIO Houses are thus primarily intended as meeting places where visitors can relax, find inspiration, work or hold meetings. Each NIO House also contains a NIO Café where coffee, breakfast and lunch are available. As a user of the NIO App, you can even save with NIO points and use them to pay in the NIO App or in the NIO Houses.

Yoga workshops

NIO Houses also host regular events and activities, such as yoga workshops, lectures or creative sessions. There is also an Art-Gallery where visitors can experience work by a different artist every three months. NIO has now opened more than 100 Houses worldwide, each of which has become true local meeting places.

NIO House Rotterdam

The NIO House Rotterdam is located between the restaurants and stores of the Meent. The front facade on the street side acts as an eye-catcher that offers ample views of the brand’s models. The large sliding windows of the side façade can be opened, allowing the NIO Café to extend outside on sunny days.

Seven main zones

A NIO House consists of seven main zones. The separation between the Gallery – where NIO’s models can be experienced – and the other areas is visible thanks to the color gradient of the floor, which gradually changes from white to a warm caramel color. The terrazzo-like floor was made by The Good Floor, a local specialist that uses plastic from the nearby Meuse River, giving this waste product a second life. The raw, concrete columns and robust design details create a Rotterdam character that combines perfectly with NIO’s pure and minimalist design.

650 square meters

At the heart of the 650-square-meter NIO House are the remaining six zones, where visitors can learn, relax, work and meet. A real eye-catcher in the Lounge is the long “crane table” that hangs from pulleys and can be hoisted up to use the space as a Forum, for meetings or yoga workshops. Several meeting rooms are available for business purposes .

In the Library, visitors can gain knowledge or enjoy peace and quiet, while children can have fun in the Children’s Hub, a paradise for children. The barista of the NIO Café will provide coffee, snacks and the NIO House Drink. The what? This is a specially curated mocktail by NIO inspired by the city in which the House is located. Dutch Courage – the non-alcoholic drink voted best by Dutch NIO riders in a special election – contains ingredients such as cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. The port of Rotterdam acquired a world position hundreds of years ago through the import and export of these spices.

NIO Life: there is even clothing for sale

The NIO House Rotterdam also features an extensive experience of the NIO Life collection. NIO’s lifestyle brand collaborates with more than 600 independent designers and world-renowned institutions with the goal of enriching users’ lives with sustainable products. NIO has launched more than 1,000 different items over the past four years. Some eight million copies have now been delivered worldwide. In the Netherlands, NIO Life collaborates with Jacco Bunt, among others, who has created a special collection of fashion items.

NIO Gallery: experiencing the models live 

In the Gallery of the NIO House Rotterdam, visitors can learn about NIO’s models. NIO offers the models in several ways. The cars are available, in part, in conjunction with a BaaS subscription, where the battery is leased and can be swapped at NIO Power Swap Stations. In addition to business leasing, NIO also offers several subscription options, including the monthly cancelable NIO Subscription. NIO’s model range in the Netherlands includes the ET7 (large sedan), the EL7 (large SUV) and the ET5 (compact sedan). Interested parties can also take test drives on site.

Everyone is welcome
