New Hyundai Nexo: this is what this hydrogen-electric SUV costs

January 5, 2026

Hyundai Nexo comes in two versions

The new Hyundai Nexo is available in two trims. Standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels with Hankook tires, front and rear LED lights, black sideskirts and window moldings, flush door handles and a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument panel. Bluetooth with voice recognition and a comprehensive package of driving assistance and safety systems are also standard. The Plus trim adds a Bang & Olufsen audio system, among others. The Vision panoramic roof is available as an option.

Renewed fuel cell

Under the body, the Nexo features an updated fuel cell and a more powerful battery pack. Battery power is 80 kW. The hydrogen fuel cell provides a gross output of 110 kW (150 hp). Together, this results in a total system output of 190 kW (259 hp). The electric motor on the front axle delivers 150 kW (204 hp), which allows the Nexo to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.

The driving range is up to 826 kilometers (with 18-inch wheels) according to the WLTP standard. This is made possible by a more efficient hydrogen system and a larger usable tank volume of 6.69 kilograms, with no impact on interior space. Hydrogen refueling takes about five minutes.

For use in cold conditions, the Nexo is equipped with “Wake Up” technology. This feature activates fuel cell heating when the car is unlocked or started, allowing the system to reach operating temperature faster.

e-Handling

The Nexo features e-Handling, which continuously adjusts engine power according to driving conditions to support grip and stability. The Smart Regenerative System uses navigation and traffic data to automatically adjust the degree of regenerative braking, for example when cornering, speed bumps and traffic jams. In Europe, the Nexo has an authorized towing weight of 1,000 kg. This allows the use of a trailer or bicycle carrier.

The interior is arranged around the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), consisting of two curved 12.3-inch displays for driving information and infotainment. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as are over-the-air software updates and voice recognition. The head-up display projects driving information onto the windshield.

In addition, the Nexo features Digital Key 2, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), an island-shaped center console with column switch, wireless charging and 15W USB fast charging ports. Optional features include a digital interior mirror and digital exterior mirrors paired with the Blind Spot View Monitor.

Five stars

In terms of safety, the Hyundai Nexo earned five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test. The car scored 90 percent for adult protection and 85 percent for child protection. In frontal and side impacts, the passenger compartment remained stable. The Nexo is equipped with a central airbag and up to nine airbags in total.

The Rear Occupant Alert system detects movement in the rear seat and alerts when a child or pet is left behind.

Design theme

The exterior design follows the “Art of Steel” theme, with horizontal lines in the doors and specific lighting elements. The Nexo is available in six body colors, including Goyo Copper Pearl.

The interior uses materials such as bio-PU leather, recycled PET textiles and bio-plastics. The rear seat offers more head and shoulder room than before. With the rear seats folded down, luggage space amounts to a maximum of 1,630 liters.
