Kia EV2: the circle is complete for Kia’s electric family

December 3, 2025

Fewer and fewer options remain open this way. There are few real indications of an EV7 or EV8 – although, of course, an electric variant of the Kia Stinger would be cool. That leaves one more option – the EV2!

The curtain will be pulled from this car in January 2026. With its arrival, you cannot put it any other way: the circle is complete.

Kia EV2: compact size, mature design

The EV2 will be Kia’s small urban electric “SUV,” but one that Kia says is fully designed as a full EV. Thus, the brand removes the last barriers when it comes to affordable electric mobility. The EV2 Concept already showed in outline what the EV2 would look like.

Although the EV2 will soon be the smallest model in Kia’s EV lineup, it is by no means small in appearance. The designers have translated the Opposites United design language into its compact proportions: short overhangs, wide hips and those typical upright light units. The result? A car that looks compact, but is still sturdy.

Moreover, Kia writes of a very spacious and flexible interior. Of course, any compact EV has the benefit of the electric powertrain: wheels on the ends of a skateboard-like architecture and a smooth floor in the interior. So will the EV2 be as practical inside as, say, the new Renault Twingo? Good question!

E-GMP in mini format

The Kia EV2 is on the compact EV architecture derived from the well-known E-GMP platform, on which the EV3 and EV4 are also based. That means short charging times, efficient powertrain technology and enough room for a battery so you can drive your daily trips effortlessly. Kia doesn’t mention figures yet, but does promise a driving range “appropriate for European use.”

When, how much, for whom?

Kia is keeping prices under lock and key for a while yet, but it seems that the EV2 is just about to become Kia’s most affordable electric model. Thus, not only are all the holes in the range filled, but there is something for everyone – and so the circle is complete again. At least, on Jan. 9, that is. So just a little more patience.
