Discount per kWh of electricity? Toyota introduces Home Charging Cashback
Okay, what’s going on? Since 2020, Toyota and Vattenfall have teamed up with Toyota Charging Service to make electric driving easier. Toyota Charging Service offers full installation at set prices with up to a 5-year warranty on both the charger and installation. Home charging points can be included as an option in an operating lease or financing through Toyota Financial Services if desired.
Smart Charging and Home Charging Cashback
This cooperation is now being expanded with two new services to complement Toyota Charging Service: Smart Charging and Home Charging Cashback. Car, home charge point, energy contract and any solar panels are controlled via the Vattenfall Energy app. The user connects the car to the home charge point and indicates in the energy app when the car should be fully charged again. The energy requirement is calculated using the battery status, the expected solar energy (based on the weather forecast) and the off-peak tariffs from the Vattenfall TimePrice energy contract. This ensures optimized charging sessions with attractive costs.
The TimePrice energy contract forms a solid basis in which energy prices are set for a year. In it there are set time blocks during which charging is significantly cheaper or even free (with the exception of the energy tax), such as weekend blocks during the summer time period. Security and the advantages of the cheap time blocks are combined in this offer.

Moving energy peak together
Toyota and Vattenfall believe it is important to contribute to a stable energy grid. Toyota EV drivers can actively contribute to this by charging mainly at times when energy demand is low. When plugging in the car, charging is controlled from the Vattenfall Energy app and as much as possible charged outside the energy peak. For this, the user receives 2.5 cents per smartly charged kWh. That’s 2.50 euros per 100 kWh.
Home charge cashback with ERE
The Toyota Charging Service’s smart charger has a certified MID meter. Every kWh charged with it is registered and, when the customer registers for this with Vattenfall, converted into Emission Reduction Units (ERE). Customers using this Home Charging Cashback will be paid at least 5 cents per kWh, which in turn amounts to 5 euros per 100 kWh. This amount can increase further if the certificates prove to be worth more. The ERE fee can be added by the user to the fee for Smart Charging. Thus, the Total Costs of Ownership are reduced even further.
So together, the Home Charging Cashbacks are guaranteed to deliver 7.5 cents per smartly charged kWh bonus, or 7.5 euros per 100 kWh. Depending on the intensity of use, this can yield hundreds of euros on an annual basis.
