Seven threes, in other words. There are quite a few of them. At the BMW Group Plant Leipzig, BMW currently produces the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. Car number 3,333,333, by the way, was a BMW 128ti, finished in Melbourne Red metallic with black accents. This is a 265-hp hot hatchbach where the letters “ti” stand for Turismo Internazionale.

The party number: a BMW 128ti

The red BMW 128ti enters the list of milestone vehicles produced in Leipzig. The first was a BMW 320i in March 2005, the inaugural “BMW made in Leipzig. Six years later, in December 2011, a BMW 116d in Alpine White drove off the assembly line in Leipzig as the millionth car. In October 2016, the two millionth car was a reality: a BMW i3 in Protonic Blue. In 2021, a BMW M240i Cabriolet in Sunset Orange was celebrated as the three millionth car to roll off the assembly line at the BMW plant in Leipzig.

Car number 4,000,000

Car number 4,000,000 will be a BMW or a MINI. Because in the course of this year, a car will arrive in Leipzig: the MINI Countryman. The BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the MINI Countryman are all made on a single production line – with a choice of three different powertrains: internal combustion engine, plug-in hybrid and fully electric.

BMW Group Plant Leipzig can produce up to 350,000 cars a year at the time of writing. In the first year of production, there were about 54,000.
