Both BMW models received a subtle facelift. On the outside, new body colors have been added, such as Cape York Green metallic and Fire Rot metallic, as well as five new designs for alloy wheels, including 19-inch and 20-inch variants. The biggest modification is in the headlights. These have received a new design and layout. The kidney grille also has an updated design with a matte chrome surround. On the BMW i4, the grille is partially enclosed with a matte silver honeycomb pattern. The M Sport Package adds high-gloss black elements and enlarges the exhaust tailpipes on gasoline models. Optionally, the exhaust end pipes can also be finished in high-gloss black.

Inside, the interior has become more modern with fewer physical buttons thanks to the latest BMW iDrive system. Functions such as climate control and seat heating can now be controlled via the BMW Curved Display or the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Standard upholstery is perforated Sensatec, with optional upholstery in Vernasca leather and BMW Individual Merino leather. New interior finishes such as Dark Graphite matte, Fineline Hell with open structure and Edelhout Esche Graubraun are available.

New powertrain

A new powertrain is available for the i4: the i4 xDrive40. It is the second variant with all-wheel drive. The other is the resilient M50. The xDrive 40 is not as fast as the M50, but it is by no means slow. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds. The 81.1 kWh battery is good for a range of 473 to 544 km according to the WLTP cycle. All model variants of the new BMW i4 can AC charge with up to 11 kW. At a DC fast-charging station, the new BMW i4 has a charging capacity of up to 205 kW, allowing a recharge of 135 to 154 km within ten minutes (depending on version).

The global market launch of the updated models will take place in July 2024. The BMW i4 is now available from 59,728 euros and the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is available from 63,154 euros. All versions and prices at a glance:
